I feel more needs to be done in explaining what rape by coercion is to young teenagers (and tbh adults in general) bcs I feel a lot of people, young girls especially, have been in situations that fall under rape by coercion but don’t even know it. These people end up feeling terrible afterwards, but can’t for the life of them figure out why they feel sad, down, used etc… bcs technically they said “yes”. Consent has to be 100% enthusiastic and 100% coming from a place of genuine want and desire. Yes doesn’t always = genuine consent. If you feel unable to say no bcs of how the person might react, either you feel they’ll react angrily or are essentially putting so much pressure and exhibiting threatening behaviour to the point where you feel forced to say yes.. That’s rape by coercion (or sexual coercion). This article explains it better and provides examples. I recommend everyone reads it; it might even help give you closure you didn’t know you needed (it did for me), or simply help you to be aware of manipulative actions from any future partners you may have. It’s something we all need to be aware of bcs it can be so subtle but the effects of rape by coercion are far from subtle and can actually be extremely emotionally damaging.
For anyone who doesn’t know, my family’s dog was shot in the leg by a cop last week despite the fact that she didn’t show any aggressive behavior. The police department refuses to pay for anything, and with all the vet bills racking up its not really an option for us to get a lawyer.
The bills above are only for the initial vet stay and medications. we’re going to have to take her to get bandages changed every 10 days for the next 2 months, plus another 14 days of antibiotics. We’ve made a gofundme page and any signal boosting and/or donations are very appreciated
Five protestors were reportedly shot in Minneapolis, MN on Monday night during a candle light vigil for Jamar Clark, who was shot and killed by a police officers on Nov. 15. White supremacists fired into the peaceful crowd, injuring several.
im watching a live stream and witnesses that were AT THE SCENE when it happened are saying that the police took 15 minutes to get to the scene
they told them “this is what you wanted” pepper sprayed people, told them to call 911, and actively protected white supremacists on scene.
